Dilemmas and Other Things

Days until my next paycheck: 6

Well folks, this will more than likely be my last post of 2011, and I am not typing it in my word processor, but directly on the site here.

Why?

Well, because for more than three hours now, my internet has been working just fine.

I really don't know why, or what changed, but I do know that when the automated phone call came earlier this evening from the cable company to confirm that yes, I did still need service, it was still screwed up and offline (again). After I made dinner and finished the second season of Archer, I came back to my Man Cave to see it back online. It has remained online with no problems ever since.

Yes, this may only be temporary, but still, I now have a dilemma.

The ISP tech guy is coming to the house between 8AM and 10AM in the morning, as I mentioned before. On New Year's Day. On a Sunday. Or at least he's scheduled to, anyway. My dilemma is that I do not know what to do now, especially as everything's working fine again. Just because it's working now doesn't mean it's going to be working when I get up in the morning, and I know this. It also doesn't mean that it's not going to screw up again in the future if I were to call and cancel the "service call" to my house, if not again sometime tomorrow.

Truthfully I'm not even sure how to cancel a service call.

I'm not sure it matters much anyway, as I'm not sure I have the minutes left on my phone to be able to do it in the first place, and no money (obviously) to refill said phone. I've still got another week before I get paid, and tonight's Walmart groceries I put on the credit card, as I also received my water bill in the mail today for $70. Did I also mention that I got the electric bill yesterday as well, and it was $180? Yeah, definitely need to be paid soon. Soonsoon. For some reason these scant few weeks when my money has been really tight is when I've had more problems and expenses than almost any other time this year, and it's simply maddening. With the checks my mother deposited, yes, I do have a little bit more cash, but it's nowhere near what I need to be able to cover all of my bills, not to mention the aforementioned credit card bill that is more than likely coming soon at some point as well. I can't tell you how much I need the other half of my student loan money to drop, ASAFP -- and, of course, how much I desperately need my next paycheck.

Of course, there's no real use in worrying about it. I can't do anything about it. Hell, this afternoon at Walmart I bought washing soda and Borax to be able to make my own laundry detergent since I'm so poor I can't exactly afford not to anymore.

1 cup Borax
1 cup Arm & Hammer Washing Soda
1 bar of soap

Use a fine grater (like the really small-holed side of a cheese grater) and grate the bar of soap into a bowl. Mix it well with the cup of Borax and washing soda. Store it in a plastic container of some sort to keep out moisture. Use a tablespoon or two per load of laundry. That's it.

In case you were wondering, anyway. Yes, apparently a tablespoon or two is enough. Sounds good to me. I'm going to spend my New Year making a ton of it and putting it in different containers, since I have no life whatsoever. Because, after all, why not, right?

Over the next few days at some point I'm planning to write some sort of year-in-review post, if I ever get around to it. And, of course, as long as the ISP tech's visit tomorrow goes well, and as long as my internet keeps working. I'll let you know how that goes, of course.
